i love making aus that make no sense to anyone, not even myself
thinking about this au. I honestly literally didn’t think much about how this happens because all I can think about it is . NEPOTISM. Extreme
but also I think something something having the power of the stars in their paws something something taking over thunderclan in preparation for the df something something cats in discourse about how these three siblings suddenly came to power all at the same time
Imagine Jay and Holly didn’t switch their apprenticeships. Brambleclaw is killed by Ashfur instead of the whole fiasco. Firestar dies one life early, just before the battle. Jayfeather is sent to the moonpool by the deputy, Lionblaze (because nepotism) to ask for advice to Starclan, as he has all those weird dreams and might be the most in tune with starclan among the warriors (and they can’t spare a medcat rn). They think he’s been designated by the clan to be their leader, or he’s attacked at the moonpool by a DF spirit and they’ve got no other choice to save him: they give him nine lives.
OR.
Jay and Holly did switch. When Ashfur, allied to the DF, kills Brambleclaw just before the battle, Hollyleaf avenges him then makes penance by becoming a medcat apprentice again, to save lives instead of taking them (but she’s not banished as it was retaliation and all, + incoming battle). After the battle against the dark forest, Firestar dies, and there’s neither deputy nor leader around. Lionblaze, not knowing yet that he has lost his powers, is designated temporary leader/deputy by the clan, while Leafpool recommands that Jayfeather, who has the strongest link with Starclan, goes to the MoonPool to ask them a sign about the next leader. Having just lost Firestar, Starclan doesn’t know what to do. Without the DF interferences, Brambleclaw should have become leader. Jayfeather decides to take matters in his own hands and to say he WILL name a leader. Starclan is relieved to hear the decision isn’t theirs and promises to give nine lives to whoever jayfeather choses. Jayfeather pulls a fast one and chooses himself. Starclan is bound by oath to give him the lives. When he comes back, he appoints Lionblaze as deputy and, because of the betrayal of Ashfur (Lionblaze’s own mentor!) and their mother and aunt + the death of the two father figure they had etc, the Three only trust each other, forming some kind of locked system in which they are relying on each other for power, Hollyleaf supplying the spiritual power, Lionblaze the popularity and fighting/hunting power, and Jaystar the political power.
BOTH OF THESE FUCKKK THANK YOU
